Q10. Where can I find an alchemist, sage, or other expert NPC?

From Fortune, you will need to head to Free City Valor find such experts, and there is no guarantee they will be interested in your question. You might get Lord Corben to dispatch a message on your behalf, which would be faster, save you the travel, and aid in getting their attention in the first place.

Wyndhaven, of course, is home to many such experts who openly peddle their knowledge to make a living. One must always be wary, however, of charlatans and ne'er-do-wells who proffer useless knowledge and disappear back into the underbelly of the city.

Many of the greatest sages, particularly regarding alchemy, magic, and the planes, are found in Magic City Vane. In contrast to the immense difficulty of gaining access to the Academy from outside the city to learn new spells, these sages accept inquiries via courier bird or magical means. Their services are not cheap and are usually reserved for royal courts and other people of renown or importance, but they are at least open to interesting queries.

If you are seeking knowledge about demons, one best travel to Aelonia. Ro's church maintains the Codex Diaboli, the sum total of all mortal knowledge on demons and the Abyss, from their creation at the death of Horde through their defeat at the last defense of man and the closing of the abyssal portal down to the present day. A copy of the Codex is kept at the Grand Cathedral of Ro and is presented to the public as the original. The true Codex, however, is kept under jealous guard at Chalice Keep, high in the mountains to the north, where the Knights of the Chalice regularly sortie into the Abyss to keep demonic numbers in check. Information on Abyssal geography and flora as well as details on the traits, abilities, and weaknesses of the various demons are logged into the Codex by the returning knights.
